Howitzers give indirect canister fire now, no ball shot only explosive, canister and chemical, and are great for securing the flank on uneven terrain. In the research for that I discovered a siege manual and it all snowballed from there.Īrmy composition for the ai is much better, they have a small discrepancy in what they can recruit but it's basically a general, 2 cannon, 4 horse and 13 infantry but 4 or so are light and 2 or 3 heavy and it balances among that. The ranges being 200 came from figuring out why the thin red line of the british was constantly beaten by napoleonic tactics when it was designed to face it. Much more realistic I think, actual historical tactics work well, that was something that took hours and hours of testing and then massive amounts of research to figure out why it didn't work.
